Lets start with the biggest of these classes, In Pro bike / sled points leader Steven Myers won out over Jimmie Miller with Kevin Border taking third. In the street bike division, Dale Hamilton beat Mike Sadlowski with Aaron Arnold the third place finisher. Several of the Pro bikes ran well into the fives. Kevin Border, ran a 5.34 @125 mph, 1.16 sixty ft. times. Its good to see him get the bike working like he had hoped it would. Wes Garman's sled laid down a 5.79 @117 mph pass, a personal best. This was a good show, thirty one bikes and sleds participated, thanks Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales, Dylan Griffey and Dwayne Stambaugh.
Trindle Auto Sales and Service and DMS Performance helped put the sport comapct race together. We ran the fastest four qualifiers in a heads up duel, Jason Schmuck won it with a 7.34 @96 mph, in class runoffs, Markus Houser defeated Alan Lesher of Auto Seat Cover Co. in the final. Brian Dubbs and Bill Gordon were the semi final racers.
SGS Automotive street legal eliminator had Morris Spahr beating Steven Greenplate, Chad Birks and Bill Johnson were the semi drivers.
James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super was won by Bernie Staub over Bill Wilkinson. Both drivers got the final after laying down several .00 lights during the earlier rounds. Mark Gray took third place.
In Keith's Pit Stop Pro, Bill Smith was tough all day taking out Dicky Bodmer in the final, Kate Roth and Chris Crawford took semi spots. This was a big win for Bill, but how about Dicky Bodmer, this was his third race at QA. He has a Foot Brake Challenge win, a Pro win and now a Pro runnerup, not bad driving. Again, Kate Roth going rounds again this week. Good job.
In McNew's Automotive Street, Garret Suders won out with a dead on the dial 7.60 to take out Roger Bailey, Morris Spahr was third.
Bowhunters Superstore Trophy was won by Wayne Donoho over Bob Toner, Rodger Gladfelter was third.

They pedaled; Mikayla did it better taking the win. Nikki Bennet and Danny Wilson were the semi racers. By the way, a big congratulations to Skyler Stump locking down the 2010 Junior Dragster championship!
And finally, the Nhra King of the Track was won by Bernie Staub over Garrett Suders. Great job Bernie and Darlene!

Even with a rainy forecast and showers in the area, we had an overall good turnout. NAPA Automotive of York once again sponsored our third footbrake challenge of the year and this one was a good one. Dicky Bodmer once again came north from Libertytown, Md with his Camaro and ran the table with one off the dial, 6.76 et in the final against last months winner, Clayton Garber who was two off his 6.95 dial. Both lights were close on this run which was the last run of the day. Brian Shaffer and Brad Doss got the semi finalist money. One note, Dicky Bodmer on his last visit won Pro in a thirty six car field, two trips to QA and two wins, think he'll be back in Sept. for the next footbrake challenge? Again a big thanks to Cary Walton, CEO and owner of NAPA Automotive of York for helping us present this race series, two more are coming, Sept 26th and Oct. 24th.
In James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super Bill Wilkinson was a winner over points leader Brandon Lowe in the finals. Bill was two over his 6.71 dial while Brandon broke out by four at 6.79 et. Dan Lightner who won last week was our third place driver.
Howard Gibbs visited the winners circle in Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales Bike class when he won over Steven Myers. Dwayne Stambaugh's Royal Farms sponsored sled was third.
In Keith's Pit Stop Pro, Keith Warner and his big wheel standing Thunderbird were nearly flawless all day long as he ran a one off the dial 6.45 in the final against the supercharged Willys entry of Brian Kuhn who was two off his dial of 6.08 et. Kate Roth and Vernon Billet took the semi spots. Kate Roth showed another good effort and is just getting tougher each week and moving up the points ladder. This was a tough field as a number of our very solid racers were entered along with a number of the Maryland drivers that were here for our last footbrake event.
McNew's Automotive Street was won by Bob Brown Sr. over Kristen Warner in her Ford Lightning truck. Kristen barely went red in the final. Brittany Jones took third and is still out front in the points battle for street. Kristen Warner didn't win today but had a .000 light and a .009 light during eliminations, not bad driving.
Aaron West had a big day in Bowhunters Superstore Trophy as he held off the breaking out Tessa Sheaffer in the final. That's two trophy runner up finishes for Tessa in the last two races. Lisa Webb keeps getting closer as she took the third place spot. This was Aaron's first visit to the winner circle this year.
Skyler Stump won over Nick Taylor in the Special Event EMS Junior Dragster class. Both drivers were one off their dials, Skyler had the better light. Tre Brown and Brady Kile were the semi final racers.
Don't forget the rescheduled Bike / Sled event is this coming Sunday, Aug. 22, this event features a street bike class and a full race bike / sled class. Both classes have an excellent cash purse, they are sponsored by Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales in Dover, Pa. and two of our racers, Dwayne Stambaugh, Station Maintenance Solutions and Dylan Griffey, Capital Paving. Check out the flyer on this site.
Once again, a big thanks to those that helped out in positions that needed filled at the track this week. Again, some of the staff was on vacation and those that jumped in did an outstanding job as always. We look forward to this Sunday and the bike event and the NHRA Challenge are being contested, See you on Sunday at QA!
8/10/10
This past Sunday was a busy one. One hundred forty plus cars and bikes rolled through gates to put on a big show for race fans, racers and staff. First off this race was dedicated to the families of two of our racers who passed on this year. Ben McBall's family attended the racing and son Michael McBall made a slow pass in Dad's car. This was an emotional day for the McBall gang and all of us at QA. Sadly the Rhinehart family just wasn't quite up to this event and didn't attend. Our thoughts were with Misty and the rest of the Rhinehart family. We all thought highly of both Ben and Joe. Their families will always be welcome to visit us and we hope they will take us up on this regularly!
A big thanks to the gang at Keystone Biofuels for helping with our first Diesel Event. Joel Hawkins took first place, Les Jones was runnerup. Mike Chronister took third. We will schedule this class again in the fall, probably in October.
In the gamblers race , proceeds going to the McBall and Rhinehart families favorite charity, Steve Myers beat Danny Boyer with Bob Carlson taking third. $360.00 was raised in entry fees for this race. Many folks that didn't enter, donated the entry fee money anyway. Is that class or what?

SGS Automotive Street Legal Eliminator was won by Brad Doss over Nathan Biedeman. Buck Markiewicz was third.
Master Challenge presented by Dylans Restaurant and Lounge was won by Wayne Donoho over Dale Greenley.

A six foot and three foot trophy was up for grabs in the Bowhunters Superstore Trophy division. The finals featured former Junior Dragster champ Tessa Sheaffer against Don Dickerson Jr. Don whom won out in a close one, Daryl McNew was third.
Dan Lightner just snuck around the better reacting Laura Landry in the James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super Class. This race was real close, Dan was two off his 5.22 dial while Laura was six off her 6.23 dial. Brandon Lowe took third, we had eighteen cars in Super, a good turnout for sure.
In Keith's Pit Stop Pro Brian Shaffer won in a very close race over John Pinno in his 64 GTO. Brian was one over while John was two over his dial in the final. Jeff Doster went rounds today and made the semis along with Bob Crum.
Chris Zarichansky on his new Kawi won again in Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales Bike Class over Dwayne Stambaugh on his Royal Farms 05 Ski Doo. Terry Hoke and Mike Jones were the semi final riders.
McNew's Automotive Street class was loaded with excellent cars and drivers. Twenty one racers answered first round. Courtney Suders driving her new race car, [73 Duster], ran five mid 7.70 runs to win over the very tough Morris Spahr in the final. Kenny Moser brought his excellent 69 Camaro to a third place spot.
Lastly, in Special Event EMS Junior Dragster action, Samantha Brown won over a breaking out Giuseppe "Lil Joe" Mazzola. Kaylee Henry and Tre Brown were the semifinalists.

Keith's Pit Stop Pro benefited from the foot brake challenge racers as they all entered pro making this a thirty six car field with as much talent as we've seen in one class in the three years of the Stanley Dye ownership of the track. Dicky Bodmer from Libertytown, Md showed up with his new 85 Camaro and out lasted a tough field beating Bob Crum in the final. Bob had the better light, .011 but was a bit off the dial, 7.46 on a 7.38. Dicky was dead on his 6.85 prediction and just snuck around Bob on the final run of the day. By the way, Bob won the last Pro class on July 4th and had won ten straight rounds before the final round loss. Third place went to Kate Roth who gets better each event, she formerly drove junior dragsters and this year she has been tough each week. Pro was an excellent show from round one to the finals.
In McNew's Automotive Street Bruce Suders brought out daughter Courtney's new ride, a 73 Duster, and it ran well all day. Bruce beat Keymar Md. driver Kristen Warner in her Ford Lightning truck. Shane Resh and Mike Hufnagle took semi spots in their Mustangs. This was Kristen Warners first race with us and a runner up finish was not bad, Kristen had a number of good lights throughout the day. Yes, Courtney did make one pass in her car after dad's win, she ran a 7.75 @ 88 mph.
Bowhunters Superstore Trophy was won by Wayne Donoho over Steve Long. Semi racers were Stacey Rodgers and Scott Failor.

Racing at Quarter Aces this past Friday with the All-Chrysler Nationals was a rousing success. A huge turnout of race fans rolled in early to an excellent show. Rocky Pirrone brought both blown Willys Coupes out for a mach race. Rocky drove the '33 and Ken Hall piloted the '40 car, both launched hard and put on a great show. Al Smyth of Porta Tree brought his '09 Drag Pack A/SA Challenger to make some exhibition runs with his son Stephen behind the wheel. Fred Ristigno brought out the Sox and Martin Pro Stock Duster and ran a couple of 5.70 runs. Also Bill Stiles of York Pa had his Super Stock 'Cuda and Pro Stock car and made passes in both. He can still drive these cars! We also featured some of our bikes, sleds and junior dragsters to show everyone what we run on our regular Sunday race programs. A big thanks to all who participated in this part of the event. Event sponsors were John Baughman Auto Parts, Larry Mummert and Jeff Doster's Autos Unlimited, we thank them also. Keith's Pit Stop Pro was won by Brad Doss over a strong runner, Chris Holley of Montgomery, Pa. Bob Brown Sr. was third.
In McNew's Automotive Street Bob Brown Jr. won out over Mark Ketterer of Sellersville, Pa. This was a close one as Mark broke out trying to chase down Bob. Jeff Doster Jr. and Walt Haas Jr. were the semi racers. A special note here as this class had some really sharp drivers in mix, Mark Ketterer races mainly at Maple Grove and Walt Haas Jr. at Atco, both are top shelf racers at their home tracks. Bob Brown Jr. hasn't raced much in the last couple of years but you wouldn't have known it to see him in this event. Four of the Brown's [ three generations] race with us at QA, Bob Brown Sr., Bob Brown Jr., Gloria Brown and Tre Brown in the Junior Dragster class.
Chris Holley had a big day as he won Bowhunters Superstore Trophy over Paul Anderson, Wayne Dnoho took third. Chris' Dart ran a string of low 7.40 runs all day long running two classes and hot lapping at the end of day.

7/4/10
The Fourth of July Sunday racing was certainly special. First off, Bill Wilcom, former owner / operator of 75-80 Dragway spent the day with us at QA. He met with many of our racers who in the past ran with Bill at one time or another and hung out in the tower with the former owner of QA, Ron Wallace and with new owner Stanley Dye. Bob Martin, head of tech, at 75-80 came along for the day also. We had a number of first time racers with us, all of them brought good cars and ran well.
Let's kick off the race results with our James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super class. Bernie Staub brought out his Super Street Plymouth Arrow and made the finals against Dan Lightner's dragster, Bernie took the win over Dan while new racers for us, David Keyton and Luara Landry were the semi racers. Laura was a former junior dragster standout and now wheels an excellent 67 Chevelle running a string of 6.20 passes. Dave's Corvette was real quick and consistent running low 5.60 passes. We hope to see both of these drivers back soon!
Chris Powers reset his track record for bracket cars with a 4.49 e.t. at 153.1 mph. The other incremental, 1.01 in sixty feet, 2.89 down to the 330 foot mark. Chris laid down this run after his first time run of the day which netted a 4.51 at 152.1 mph. There is still MORE in this car! Great job Chris.
A way overdue Wes Garmen won out over Terry Hoke in a sled final in Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales Bike / Sled class. Danny Boyer and Chris Zarichansky took semi final honors.
Keith's Pit Stop Pro finals had Bob Crum and Bob Carlson against each other. Bob Crum won in double breakout deal, Bob Crum out by .02, Bob Carlson was out by .03. This was an excellent race, Bob Crum has had many runner-up finishes but no wins since 2006. The "cookie man" was due. Brian Shaffer took third place.
McNew's Automotive Street class was won by Ron Dickerson over the faster Mike Hufnagle. Jeff Doster Jr. and Ed Snelbaker were the semi drivers.
Trindle Auto Sales and Service Sport Compact had Bill Gordon taking the win over Brian Dubbs. Zach Stoner took third, wait till this car gets sorted out. The Civic will eventually put down some good numbers soon.
Bowhunters Superstore Trophy was won by Wayne Donoho over Chris Seaman in a double breakout final. Rodger Gladfelter and, Darren Wanish finished in the semis.
Jim & Ninas Pizzeria / Dan Lightner's Tree Service Ladies Challenge was won by Brittany Jones in a close but breaking out effort from Lisa Webb. How about .001 under from Lisa. Pam Baum took third.
And finally two racers who were looking for their first win, it was Scotty Morgan over Danny Wilson in a close race. This was only the ninth race ever for Scotty, it didn't take him long to find the winners circle at QA! Skyler Stump was third and still hangs on to her lead in the points in the Special Event EMS Junior Dragster Class. Jennifer Landry was here for the first time and drove well. The Landry family is from Townsend, Delaware.

See you Friday!

Before we talk about this past Friday's GM race, let's look at the upcoming races scheduled for July. Yes, we are racing on Sunday July 4th. A regular Summit points race and the Ladies Challenge class will be contested that day.Only July 9th, a Friday night, the popular Carlisle Events All Chrysler Nationals comes back to QA. This is probably our biggest event of the year, gates open at 1 PM and time trials at 3 pm, eliminations about 6pm. July 18th is the NAPA Automotive of York Footbrake Challenge. Also Masters Challenge is on for that day as well. July 25th we will run our big bike event with two classes for bikes. Drag bikes and sleds comprise one class and a class for Street bikes, that is DOT tire and no wheelie bars make up the other. Check the flyer on the website for details. Also the popular SGS Automotive Street Legal Eliminator along with the Summit Points race included that day. Come on out and spend these race days with us at QA!
Now about the racing on GM night, first off a big thanks to the exhibition cars, bikes, sleds and junior dragsters that added greatly to the show. I talked to a number of people that were happy to see what we run on our regular race days, all were impressed by these racers. Chris Powers did not have anyone to race but laid down 2 nearly clean runs [there is much more in this car!] at 4.60 @ 152 mph, very impressive. A big thanks for adding to the show.
Eric Kitchen's Pro Stick cars did a great job, hooking hard and laying some real nice runs, Fred Leyland's powerful Chevy powered 65 GTO won out over the show quality and fast 63 Corvette of Gordon Foose, 6.09 to a losing 6.13. Larry Carasen took third in his excellent 69 Camaro.
James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super winner was Bill Wilkinson, his third GM race win in row, over hard charging and wheel standing 41 Willys of Kevin Little. Jack Brandt took third. Talk about a great starting line this week, Kevin Little's car ran a number of low 5.50 ets with sixty foot times that were real quick. How about 1.18 on several runs.
Keith's Pit Stop Pro was won by Joe Yeaple over Lukas Birks. Joe was deadly all day running a 7.23 on his 7.22 dial, Lukas broke out by one. Colton Kirchner was with us today, taking third in his Monza. He ran low 5.80 passes all day long at 116 mph. This car works and runs hard, we hope to have him back soon!
In McNew's Automotive Street, Chad Birks took the win over Dale Greenly, Chris Seaman took third spot. The Birks brothers nearly pulled off a double today, Chad hasn't raced with us for a good while and was good to see him out on the track, he didn't disappoint either. What an excellent racing family, dad Tom, a former Pro champ, Lukas, Seth and now Chad all showing their skills at QA!
Lastly, in Bowhunters Superstore Trophy it was Dan Lightner over Chris Seaman, Steven Greenplate and Bob Hippensteel were the semi racers.
A big thanks to the sponsors of this event, Baughman's Auto Parts, Larry Mummert and John Baughman in particular, Fisher Auto Parts of Carlisle, John Potocki Orange Aid roll bar padding and Wheeleze wheelie bar wheels and Brad Rodgers at Brookside Motors. We look forward to seeing all of you on July 4th!! See you then!

Finally the weather cooperated with us. Bright sunshine greeted racers and race fans this past Sunday. First off, Big Brothers / Big Sisters Capital Region spent the day with us watching our racing and each one, adults and children, took a ride in the race cars with our drivers "taking the tree" on easy passes down the track. Everyone loved it including our racers that participated. We are doing this event again in September. Thanks to Susan Hair and the gang at Big Brothers / Big Sisters for helping to put this event together!
Now for the racing. In Special Event EMS Junior Dragster, Nikki Bennett won out over points leader Skyler Stump, the semi racers were Danny Wilson and "Lil Joe" Mazzola. Dodd Williams of Dodd's Garage put up cash for the junior drivers, all collected cash, even first round losers, making this a special day for all the junior drivers.
James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super winner was Jeff Duck in his excellent dragster. Jeff beat Brandon Lowe in the finals, Bill Wilkinson was third. Jeff's runs were all right at the 5.00 to 5.03 range. Hopefully Jeff will roll in from Mifflintown more often.

Check out the flyers for our big First Annual Bike Show Shootout on July 25th. Bike riders that ride in to watch will have a special $5.00 admission fee. More to follow on this event!!
Keith's Pit Stop Pro was won by Brian Shaffer edging out Lukas Birks who broke out by .01. Dale Jackson was third. This was Dale's first trip out to see us this year, the Nova was quick all day with a string of 6.30 runs.
McNew's Automotive Street was won by Roger Bailey over Brad Doss. Both drivers ran dead on the dial. Roger's package was .005 from perfect and Brad was right there with a .013 package. It doesn't get much closer than these two. Steven Greenplate and Bob Brown Sr. were semi drivers.

Street Legal Eliminator presented by SGS Automotive will also be contested with its $500.00 purse. As always we will feature a Summit Points Race as well.

6/6/10
Saturday we tried again. We started times runs about 4:00 pm and everyone got several runs before intermission. We had fun with some heads up grudge racing, Brian Shaffer ran Chris Taylor several times and the runs were close. Three of our Special Event EMS Junior Dragster drivers put on an exhibition. Tre Brown ran Nick Taylor, both cars ran strong, Tre showed off a bit with a .001 light and on his second run he slept?? with an .020 light. Nick cut good lights also and his car was the quickest of the three. Brady Kile ran his junior as well and showed us a .008 light on his first run. Next to run was Pro Stick driver Fred House behind the wheel of his turbo 4 cylinder Ford Probe. He went the fastest ever at our house with a pair of 5.19s @ 132.5 mph, 1.18 sixty foot launches, impressive. And lastly to run was Dick Estevez driving the "Daddy Warbucks" '65 Falcon. In humid muggy damp air, certainly less than great conditions to lay down big numbers, Dick uncorked a 5.08 @ 136.5 mph and on his second pass picked it up slightly with a 5.06 @ 136.5 mph. How about a 1.18 and 1.17 in sixty feet on his runs. Dick talked to everyone over the PA and was complimentary about the track itself and about QA in general. We weren't expecting him to be back Saturday but he showed and made two excellent runs. Thanks Dick Estevez. Sadly, right after Dick's second run the sprinkles came and stayed steady enough to make us have to cancel out. Sooner or later we have got to get some decent weather. We thank all those that participated both on Friday and Saturday.
Sunday, June 13th we feature a Summit Points Race and Ladies Challenge presented by Lightner's Tree Service and Jim and Nina's Pizzeria of East Berlin, Pa. About the Fords-- We will put up money and gift certificates for the Fords that go the farthest in eliminations in all classes. The sponsors that are on board for the Ford race are-- Boyd and Pat Michael's Economy Transmissions, Bryan and Patti Scott, Greg Cook's Restorations, Cooper Motors of Hanover and Fisher Auto Parts of Carlisle. A big thanks to all of them for doing all they could to support the Ford event. Let's all hope for a nice upcoming weekend, great weather and good racing! See you Sunday!
6/4/10
Once again mother nature washed out our Carlisle Events Ford Friday night race. We did get in three rounds of time trials but persistant rain showers stopped racing for the night. We WILL run tomorrow, Saturday, with the gates opening at 1:00 pm, time trials at 3:00 pm and eliminations starting at 6:00 pm. Hopefully we'll have better weather and complete the event. A big thanks to all that did come out, see you tomorrow!! Let's hope for good weather!!
6/01/10
Here is what happened at Quarter Aces this past Memorial Day weekend. First, on Sunday we had an excellent turn out of racers and race fans. Street Legal Eliminator sponsored by SGS Automotive and front engine dragsters were the featured classes of the day. Steve Long came through with a big day taking out Doug Wetzel in the finals in Street Legal Eliminator. This netted Steve with a big $250.00 payout. Kate Roth and Seth Birks were the semi drivers.
Moving on to James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super, Bill Foster's hard charging 70 Chevelle ran off a string of 5.90 runs to win over Ken Johns in his 69 Chevelle. Walt Little took third.
Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales and Service Bike / Sled went to Jason Staub. He won out over Steven Myers. Robert Huff was third. On a special note, Steven Myers had won four straight bike eliminators going into to Sunday's event. Dylan Griffey of Capitol Paving put up a $50.00 bounty on Steven. Now the pressure was on, but Steven won the first three rounds and finally bowed out in the final. The streak ended at nineteen straight round wins! Wow! Jason Staub collected the $50.00 plus the regular purse in a good race.
Keith's Pit Stop Pro had Lester Holtzapple beat Brian Shaffer in the final, Jim Stephens and the "cookie man" Bob Crum were the semifinalists. Lester was his usual self behind the wheel with a string of teen lights throughout the day.
McNew's Automotive Street was won by Buck Markewicz. He defeated Matt Stoltzfus in the final, Stan Crum and Ed Snelbaker took semi honors.
Trindle Auto Sales and Service Sport Compact went to Brian Dubbs over Bill Gordon. Michael Cashman was third.
First time racer and National Drag School student Dan Hoerr won Bowhunter Superstore Trophy class when his opponent David Nickol broke. Wayne Donoho and Aaron West were the semi racers. Several of the National Drag School students were here for the day with Mike 'Cowboy' Stevenson. They all got to see how our race operation is run with a tour of the facility with some time in the tower and out on the starting line during Pro time trials. Seems like all involved got something positive from the day.
In Special Event EMS Junior Dragster it was Nikki Bennet over Erin Warner in the final with Trey Brown taking third.
Finally we ran our King of the Hill at the end of the day and Lester Hotzapple won out over Jason Staub. Buck Markewiecz and Bill Foster were the semi final drivers.
Moving on to day two. First we welcomed Dan and Clair Laterza for Racers for Christ. They stayed all day and performed the morning service and the invocation at intermission. It is always good to have them with us on Memorial Day!
Special Event EMS Junior Dragster Shootout and NAPA Automotive Footbrake Challenge were the days featured classes. First a big thanks to Tom Alleman of Special Event EMS for helping to get the purse to where each racer in the main race and second chance race all received money for there efforts, a big thanks to Special Event EMS! Erin Warner won the Junior Dragster main race in a field of nineteen cars. To say Erin dominated the event would be an understatement! She was double "0" at the tree on three runs and went .001 against Tre Brown in the final to take home $200.00. Skyler Stump took third. This was a tough field of racers that all drove well! First round losers raced in a consolation affair with Danielle Manili winning out over Nick Taylor, Joshau Kelley was third.
Cary Walton's NAPA Automotive of York Foot Brake Challenge had Andy Wildasin winning over Brandon Wentzel and Steven Myers taking third. Sadly Brian Shaffer had a slick go flat and Bill Smith lost a transmission or they may have gone further in this event.
Bill Wilkinson won in James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super over Brandon Lowe, Ken Carr was third.
In Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales Bike / Sled had Terry Hoke defeating Danny Boyer in the final, Keith Holtzapple was third.
Keith's Pit Stop Pro had Joe Wetzel winning over Brian Kuhn in a double breakout run. Andy Widasin and Pat Garst were the semi drivers.
McNew's Automotive Street was won by Brittany Jones over Seth Birks, Mike Hufnagle and Ed Snelbaker were the semifinalists.
Bowhunter's Superstore Trophy was won by Dale Greenly over Megan Chronister. Lisa Webb was third, this was Lisa's first trophy win at QA. Probably a lot more are coming for her!
Trindle Auto Sales and Service and DMS Automotive Sport Compact was won by Brian Dubs in a best two out of three over Bill Gordon.
It was great to see new faces and others who haven't raced for awhile join us at QA. Greg Eachus of Honeybrook, Pa. brought his powerful Chevy Vega to run in Pro. Greg laid down several 6.10 @ 114.00 mph passes. The car looks good and runs hard. The Warthen family from Mt. Airy, Md. brought their newly acquired Chevy Nova out to run Super. The car worked well and the whole family liked our track but especially had nice things to say about our racers. They will be running with us more this year. Gary Warthen and family will be a great addition to our program, welcome aboard. Ed Snelbaker ran with us both days, its good to have him back. Buck Markewiecz ran with us last year but broke the timing chain on his excellent 68 Firebird. The engine was redone and ran 7.60 's all day long, Buck won Street on Sunday. Pat Garst came up from Frederick , Md. and went rounds.
We had some employees off this weekend and we want to thank those that filled in, they were Wayne Skelly, Lester Holtzapple, Lori Beard, Reggie Murphy, Sandy LaShure and Terry Shaffer all did a great job, a big thanks!
Don't forget we are racing Friday Night! Carlisle Events Ford Race starts with gates opening at 1:00 pm, time trials at 3:00 pm and eliminations about 5:30 pm. Who's coming? Sam Auxier Jr, the voice of racing will be with us and Brian Wolf, former director of racing for Ford will be at the track also. Several of the 68 Cobra Jet cars will be on hand also. Come on out and be a part of this big event!!!
Should we have weather issues, we WILL race on Saturday, the same start times as Friday.
5/24/10
Mother Nature was again uncooperative this past Sunday. We attempted to wait it out till the track dried but just as things were looking up, more rain showers moved in and we had to cancel. We had three extra classes, Pro Stick, Tri State Stock / Super Stocks and a Sport Compact event presented by Trindle Auto Sales and Service and DMS Performance. We WILL work towards rescheduling all these events and post the new dates as soon as possible.

Lots of cruise-in cars and race fans filled the hill to watch a great show provided by our regular racers, MANDRA and East Coast Gasser drivers. Also Ken Hall and Rocky Perrone put on a show driving the supercharged Willys gassers in a two out of three match race.
The MANDRA class had neat cars that ran well, at the end of the day Brian Freels Nova won out over John Potocki in the final. Jeff Wise took third. By the way, John Potocki's Camaro is getting closer to running numbers he had hoped for, a string of 5.90 ets at 115 mph all day long is certainly getting there.
The East Coast Gassers had John Olcott winning over Pete Boyer, Greg Grubel and Ronnie Carson was the semi drivers.
James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super was won by Walt Little over Mark Coover, Alan Robinson and Brandon Lowe took the semi final spots.
Andy Wildasin was again excellent all day getting by Colby Ambrose in Keith's Pit Stop Pro final. Mike Hufnagle was third.

Two racers that really stood out were Morris Spahr winning Street and Pro and Nathan Biedeman scoring in Street Legal Eliminator and a third place finish in Street. His co-pilot Tom Fagan was runnerup in Trophy. Pretty good outing for these drivers.
Don't forget this Sunday, MANDRA and East Coast Gassers and a cruise in along with all the other Classes will be contested at QA. Again a big thanks for coming out and supporting racing at QA in less than perfect weather this weekend. See you this coming Sunday!
5/7/10
Just a quick update, we have finished our clean up from the minor flooding. So no additional help with be needed. We will see you on Sunday.
5/4/10
Again the weather this past Sunday was uncooperative as light showers and sprinkles cut short racing activities half way through the first session of time runs. We tried to wait it out but no luck. The ProStick show has been rescheduled for Sunday May 23rd. The SGS Automotive Street Legal Eliminator and Dan Lightner Tree Service Ladies Challenge will be run this Sunday May 9th along with Summit ET racing and Dylan's Lounge and Restaurant Master's Challenge. We did have heavy rains early Monday morning that caused some flooding behind the stands and tower, nothing major but will need cleaned up before Sunday. We are going up Thursday afternoon to do some track work and if help is needed on Saturday we will post it here. Let's all wish hard for some good weather Sunday! We all want to go racing!
4/26/10
Let's talk about the busy race schedule for the month of May. We will race five Sundays and Memorial Day Monday for a total of six racing events. Starting with this Sunday May 2nd we have Eric Kitchen's Pro Stick Cars coming in for their first race at QA this year. For race fans this is as good as it gets in our house as about forty cars will make the first round. Hard launching, wheels in the air action round after round is what Pro Stick is all about. Street Legal Eliminator sponsored by SGS Automotive will be contested as they were part of last week's rained out program. This class is for street legal cars and bikes, you must have tags, registration, proof of insurance, DOT tires and run through the mufflers, this class is run on a full tree, $500.00 purse, and a twenty car minimum. The first Ladies Challenge of the 2010 race season presented by Lightner's Tree Service and Jim & Nina's Pizzeria of East Berlin Pa. will be contested this Sunday. All the other classes also are on deck for Sunday. Race fans; don't miss this weekend's action!
Sunday May 9th, Dylan's Restaurant and Lounge present Masters Challenge. This class is for drivers 50 yrs. old and up. The first week's winner was Frank Giallonardo. Summit ET racing again will be featured.
Moving up to Sunday May 16th, MANDRA [Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Drag Racing Association] and East Coast Gassers will invade QA. Last week at Spring Carlisle we set up a stand to promote the track and overwhelmingly those that we talked to about our racing at QA want to see nostalgia type racing. Well we have it with this event. This will have a good mix of Gassers, Altereds, Roadsters and Nostalgia Stockers that will put on a great show for everyone. Do you have a hot rod car? Show it off with the cruise in that day. We park these cars on the hill, good thick grass, no dust up there and a great view of the racing for anyone coming in for the Cruise In.
Sunday May 23rd will be especially busy. NHRA Stockers and Super Stockers will be here putting on a great show. These cars leave hard with many doing big and long wheel stands. This race is a week before Maple Grove's Divisional Lucas Oil Event and we expect a good turnout of these cars. Lightner's Tree Service and Mid Atlantic Hoosier Tire are presenting this race. Also Trindle Auto Sales and Service and DMS Motorsports present our Sport Compact Event. Eric Kidwell's Nissan group will also be on hand for a Nissan Class. We will have the fastest four Sport Compacts run a heads up deal to see who has the baddest car in this class. At the end of these two classes we will run the Nissan and Sport Compact winners against each other. Nissan cars will also have a cruise in on the hill.
Memorial Day weekend has a bit of the old and new. The winner of Super Pro, Pro, Street and Bike run for a King of the Hill trophy like we have been doing for the last thirty years or so. Again we'll run Street Legal Eliminator presented by SGS Automotive. Front Engine Dragsters will be putting on a show also. We come right back in Monday, Memorial Day with the first Foot Brake Challenge presented by NAPA Automotive of York, $100.00 entry, 16 cars, $1,000.00 to win, $300.00 runner up, $150.00 for semi drivers, this is a 100% payout! Look forward to seeing everyone this coming Sunday!
4/12/10
Opening day finally arrived with excellent weather greeting racers, race fans and sponsors to the first day of racing at Quarter Aces Drag-O-Way. Again another big thanks to all that helped getting the track in shape so we could open as scheduled. Flooding rains washed out areas near the food stand, bleachers and tech building back in January. For five weekends in a row of work, track staff and volunteers made the job much easier. A special thanks to Dylan Griffey and his dad for doing the road repairs.
As for the results, let's start with the Special Event EMS Junior Dragster class. Skylar Stump started her season off right by taking the win over Steven Henry. Nikki Bennett and Danny Wilson were the semi racers.
James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super winner was Walt Little over Jerry Holcomb. Ken Carr and Ben McBall took the semi final spots. It is good to have Walt back with us, his Dodge Charger was nearly flawless as usual
Steven Myers won out over Jason Staub in a sled final in the Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales Bike/Sled class. This was Jason Staub's first venture on a sled and he actually got there first but broke out. Terry Hoke took third place.
Keith's Pit Stop Pro was won by last year's track champ Wayne Skelly. This final had to be the closest and best race of the day. A double breakout had Bill Smith losing out by two ten thousands in the final. What a close race! Bet we see a lot of this all season long. Brian Kuhn was third.
Mcnew's Automotive Street was won by Doug Wetzel when Brittany Jones caught the better light but broke out in the final. Roger Bailey and Steven Greenplate were the semi finalists.
Bowhunters Superstore Trophy had a familiar racer taking the win. Wayne Donoho beat Dave Beam. Allison Cook and Clair Delancy were third and fourth.

Lastly, the Dylan's Restaurant and Lounge Masters Challenge had Frank Giallonardo winning out over Wayne Donoho. Greg Cook was third.
We now serve breakfast at QA. This went over big as we now have scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and K & K coffee each Sunday morning. Also Jeff and Jill Rosh will be at the track a lot this year to do your car graphics, class designation, class number, names etc. These can be made right on the spot on race day. They made us a terrific menu board for our food stand and will do other stuff for us as needed. Thanks, Jeff and Jill, welcome aboard! Don't forget, Summit Points race #2 is next Sunday. See you at QA!!
4/5/10
Opening day is nearly upon us! The first thing we would like to do is thank all the volunteers who have helped in getting the track in shape for this Sunday's race. Four of the last five weekends [one was rained out] we have had as many as sixteen helpers working hard on repairing the January rain storm damage that made such a mess of the place. Nearly all the cleaning up is done plus a patio area has been built behind the food stand for our grill and a picnic table.
Opening day is a points race, make sure to see team captain Judy Miller to sign up for points before eliminations start. Masters Challenge class presented by Dylans Restuarant and Lounge will also be contested on opening day. New sponsors are on board for 2010. Jim and Ninas Pizza of East Berlin will give one large pizza, one topping for winners and runnerups of Ladies Challenge. Wengers Meats of Carlisle has joined up with us. We will now serve their excellent pork barbeque on race days. We are in the process of setting up race date for Superior Tool Sales. Larry Snyder will be at the track that day and will give out tools to our class winners and others that day. Big Brothers / Big Sisters will again have a day on June 20th and another probably on Sept 12th. We look forward to having them with us again. Hurry up Sunday!!! Can't wait to get started!!!
This past Saturday, twenty one cars went through chassis certification performed by Curt and Sandy LaShure. A big thanks to both of them for their hard work. We also had a flea market that day and we served breakfast for the early arrivers.

Also we will be setting up the lights and timing system this weekend. So anyone that would like to help, it would be greatly appreciated.

It's hard to believe but opening day is barely six weeks away! Hurry up Spring! First off a big thanks to all our sponsor / partners and others who donated all the great door prizes for our banquet last month. As Kathy noted on the last post, we are going to need to do some flood damage clean up at the track once the snow is gone. As soon as we know some dates we will post them and hopefully we can get some help with this project.
We do have some new sponsor / partners onboard with us this year, Justin Bradley, Joe Storm's Newville Auto Spa, Wenger's Meats of Carlisle, Jeff and Jill Rosh's Graphics and RockAuto.com all are with us this year. The Rosh's will be with us on race day many times through the season to do graphics for our racers. The big news is that others have stepped up the programs with us. Tom Alleman's Special Event EMS group will not only give away a $1,000 bond to our Junior dragster champ but will also help with the Junior Dragster Challenge events. Cary Walton and the gang from NAPA Automotive of York will help us with six Foot Brake Challenge races. Simple rules, sixteen cars pre enter, $100 entry and 100% payout. In October we'll do a thirty two car field, again 100% payout. We will work with others to do this for Super cars and Bikes as sponsor / partners are brought onboard. We again will have a NAPA Automotive of York day at the track, all class winners get $50.00 gift certificates. Larry Snyder of Superior Tool Sales will have a day at the track. He'll bring his tool truck and he will give a way tools that day to class winners and others. Again a big thanks to these supporters of our racers and racing at QA!
Mike Carr's Tri-State Stock / Super Stock Association will have their first points meet with us on Sunday, May 23rd. On that day we also have a Sport Compact race, Lon Danley helped us greatly with this event last year and we look forward to working with him again. Also Justin Bradley, will be working with us with Sport Cmpacts also. East Coast Z Nationals Erik Kidwell will have his Nissan group racing that day. The Nissan winner will challenge the Sport Compact winner once the two classes are settled.
Lastly on a sadder note, Mike Summers who helped on the starting line several times last year suffered another stroke, he is recovering at home. Our thoughts are with Mike!
2/21/10 "A special thanks to sponsor RockAuto.com for providing wristbands for the event. RockAuto.com has everything from one lug nut to a new fender or remanufactured engine; all at everyday low prices. Sadly, yesterday was our last race of the 2009 season. But it was a good one! Cars were fast, as we had cool clear weather. Let's start by talking about our first Foot Brake Challenge event sponsored by John Thompson's Knisley's Performance of Carlisle. There were sixteen pre-entered cars and drivers at $100.00 entry fee with a 100% payout! Drivers drew numbers so they knew who they had first round and the rest of rounds went by ladder sheet. When the semis arrived, Tammy Skelly had her husband and track champ Wayne in the other lane. Tammy won by pushing him out. Brian Shaffer drew Ray Born. Ray was nearly perfect in his win over Brian and that set up the final round good for a total of $1,300. Ray went .003 at the start and 6.55 on a 6.52 dial, Tammy went under by .02, 6.75 on a 6.77 dial giving the win to Ray Born. A pair of $25.00 gift certificates from Knisley's Performance went the driver closest to the dial and best reaction and again Ray won them both. As a side note, Tammy and Ray made a split, $800 and $500. Everyone enjoyed this deal and in 2010 we'll try to do more of this.
In SGS Automotive sponsored Street Legal Eliminator Kate Roth was the winner over Mark Ketterer. Greg Stump was third.
Dylans Resturant and Lounge Masters Challenge was won by Wayne Donoho over Bob Ormsbee. Buck Markiewicz and Dave Erikson were semi drivers.
In James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super Chris Powers won over Brian Kuhn while Mark Coover's two race winning streak ended as he was the third place driver.
Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales Bike was won by Chris Zarichansky over Harv Philmalee. Wes Garman and Mike Jones were the semi riders. How about Chris with a .004 light and .02 off the dial 7.34 in the final. That was Chris's first win this year.
Dave Sciaretta made his first trip ever from Honey Brook, Pa. to QA to compete in Keith's Pit Stop Pro, and got through a tough field and squared off with former bracket finals winner Carl Gerber. Dave was .02 off his 7.45 dial and held off Carl's dead on the dial 6.54 by virtue of a .010 light. Great to have Dave with us, hopefully we'll see him more next year.
In Mcnew's Automotive Street Class this year's Bracket Finals winner from Reading, Pa. Brandon Wentzel won out over Mark Ketterer. Bob Ormsbee and Buck Markiewicz were the semi racers.
Bow Hunters Superstore Trophy was won by Erik Kopp over Dave Bailey, Wayne Donoho and Wayne Kopp took semi honors.
Lastly, in Special Event EMS Junior Dragster class, Tre Brown won over Skyler Stump, Claudia Powers and Nikki Bennett took the semis. To add a little craziness to the day, Nikki's granddad Kerm Shindledecker raced Erin Warner's dad Joe Warner driving the Junior Dragsters. They both cut good lights and ran 7.90s, only trouble was getting Joe out of the car, he was a snug fit for sure.
How about the new racers to us that came to visit, Marlin Huss, Dave Sciaretta, Mark Ketterer and Buck Markiewicz, all top shelf racers and good people. They had a great time and we hope to see them more in 2010.
Saturday, November 7, we have a Chassis Certification at the track starting at 9:00 am. Call Kathy Jones to schedule. Also a flea market for car parts or anything else on the same day. Come on out and visit. We will have coffee and cold drinks and snacks available also. QA banquet tickets can be bought that day. Judy Miller handles banquet ticket sales
Thanks everyone for a great season, Stanley Dye, track owner, track management and staff members, all of our racers and race fans, all of our excellent sponsor / partners and Stanley's full time employees. It wouldn't happen without everyone's efforts. Now if we could just get the weather to cooperate next year!
10/16/09 Racing for Sunday October 18 is CANCELED. Our scheduled Foot Brake Challenge will run on 10/25/09, along with Masters Challenge, WFO, and Street Legal Eliminator.
There may be spots available for the Foot Brake Challenge due to cancelation, so if you are interested in possibly participating and you are not already on the list, please come prepared. ALSO Drivers will be placed on a ladder for this race. Lane choice first round will be made by the flip of a coin. You will pick a ball with a number and then you will be paired up first round. After first Round lane choice will be decided by best reaction. All others will flip for lane choice. Any questions you can contact Kathy.
Don't forget, Chassis Certification and Flea Market November 7th. (For more info or to sign up call (717) 266-2968 or email Kathy nhrap133@comcast.net)
10/12/09
Great racing weather greeted our racers and race fans for the big Pro Stick event. Before talking about any other racing itself, lets give a big thank you to all who came out to watch and participate. One hundred eighty three race cars rolled through gates to put on a great show, maybe the best one this year! Eric Kitchen's Pro Stick gang had forty four entrants all of which hooked hard, most carried the wheels high and were plenty fast. Low E. T. of the day was Bill Smith in his 68 Camaro in the final as he went 5.24 on a 5.29 dial @ 130.5 mph. This break out run gave the win to Mike Rowe in his Mustang. Kevin Wines in his Camaro was third. Many of these cars were well into the fives and well over 120 mph. Great, close racing in this class from start to finish!
All of our regular classes were competing for cash but also for a chance to win the "Wally". James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super racer Mark Coover won for the second straight week taking out Chris Powers in the final. Mark was nearly flawless in five rounds of racing. We can't forget to talk about Chris Powers again this week unleashing a 4.50 E. T. @ 152.5 mph during time runs. This is a record for all but an alcohol funny car at QA. Chris Taylor also had a good day taking third place.
Harbold's Garage and Trailer Sales Bike had Mike Jones taking home the "Wally" when he won out over Brittany Taylor in the final, Wes Garman and Chris Zarichansky were the semi riders.
We love it when our sponsors come and to spend time with us and today, Keith Elledge of Keith's Pit Stop who sponsors Pro threw in a Ben Franklin [$100] on top of the normal winners purse. Brian Shaffer took the win over Lee Chronister, with Morris Spahr taking third. Sadly for Morris, he knocked out u joint in the street final and couldn't contest the semi run in Pro. By the way, I got to hold the $100 bill and was going to present it to the winner but as soon as Brian's win light came on, Brian's wife Eva made sure she got to me first. Brian, I don't think you are going to see that Ben Franklin!
In Mcnew's Automotive Street, Morris Spahr won it when Brad Doss went red. Kate Roth and Randy Brownawell made to the semis.
The Universal Technical Institute six foot trophy bash was won by Brandon Lowe who won out over Wayne Donoho. Wayne's runner up gave him a three foot trophy. Bob Brown Sr. and Jeremy Moyer were semi drivers. Bow Hunters Superstore is the week to week trophy class sponsor.
Lastly, Special Event EMS Junior Dragster had Nick Taylor as the winner over Skyler Stump. Alexxa Powers took third. Again the Taylor family did well with a runner up in Bike, a win in Junior Dragster and a third place in Super Pro, not a bad day!
Thanks again for a great race. Lots of racers and race fans made their first ever trip to QA. All seemed to enjoy the racing and we hope you will all come back and visit us often. And again always a pleasure to have Dave McMeans as my announcer partner again. Bill Smith also jumped in and announced a good bit in the later rounds of race action. He is doing an excellent job for us. Charles Mader of Bee Clean and Shine Car Care Products set up his display and many purchased his excellent product line. Lastly we welcome Joe Storm of Newville Auto Spa an auto detailing business for jumping on board for us for the rest of the year and for the upcoming 2010 race season. Joe gave us some gift certificates to give out to our racers. Thanks Joe.
See all of you next week, NHRA Stock / Super Stockers in the house on Sunday!
10/6/09 A lot of interest has been shown for our Foot Brake Challenge race on Sunday, Oct 18th. The field is now full as of 8:20 pm on Tuesday Oct. 6th. Added racers are Joe Wetzel, Terry Shaeffer and John Potocki. This should be a fun race for the racers and race fans. Good luck to all entered. We'll talk more about the event this Sunday!
10/5/09
I'm not sure where to start on our racing yesterday, Oct. 4th. Let's start with our guests, Big Brothers/ Big Sisters and the Cumberland County, Pa. American Red Cross. Barrie Ann George, her son and daughter and seven pairs of Big Brothers / Big Sisters arrived just in time to see time runs from our timing tower observation deck and inside the tower. At the end of the first time run session, we got all the members a ride in a race car. The racers did a small burn out and took the tree and drove down the track. All were impressed and talked about the ride all day. A bit later all had lunch with us. They all enjoyed the day and we WILL do this again next year. It was fun for all of us! Kevin Stoner represented the American Red Cross and was with us all day and took donations and passed out brochures and answered questions. By the way, our 50 - 50 drawing raised $257.00 which was split by both organizations.
Moving to the racing action, we had the East Coast Gassers, the class was won by Ron Carson, runner up was Nelson Bilyk. Third went to John Schreiner. These racers put on a great show! Also two of the beautiful recreations of the old A/GS gassers were on hand and made a pair of exhibition runs. The Back Seat Drivers, front engine dragsters were with us today, eight excellent cars made passes in the low to high fives. All cars looked great and very period correct also. Track photographer for ECD News "Mashie" Mihalko was on hand doing his usual excellent work and enjoying the day.
The other featured class was SGS Automotive Street Legal Eliminator won by Butch Dunn. Bill Johnson took the second spot, Dale Greenly and Mike Miller made the semis. Talking about SGS, two of their tuned customer cars made time runs, Clark Knudsen's stick Mustang ran mid sixes and Chris Peck laid down a 5.78 @ 123.5 mph. Seriously fast street car for certain!
Finally Mark Coover's name is now mentioned as the winner in James Coyle Hydraulic Repair Super class winning out over Chris Taylor. Brand Lowe and Chris Powers were the semi drivers. By the way Chris Powers laid down a track record run for anything short of a funny car at QA. How about a pair of 4.53 @ 151.5 mph. Good show!
Harbolds Garage and Trailer Sales Bike class was won Jeff Foster on a 4-wheeler, he took out track champ Bob Huff. Brittany Taylor was third.
Keith's Pit Stop Pro was won by Andy Ney over Mike Ambrose, Brian Shaffer was third.
Mcnew's Automotive Street honors went to Don Dickerson Sr. Kate Roth was runner up. Chris Seaman and Steven Greenplate were the semi racers.
Bowhunter Superstore Trophy was won by Wayne Donoho over Chris Seaman.
Terry Sheaffer and Megan Chronister took the semis.
Finally our Special Event EMS Junior Dragster divsion was won by Nikki Bennett. Nick Taylor was runner up and Mikayla Warner and Cory Maloney took semi spots.
Something new added yesterday. On Sunday, Oct. 18th we are running a Foot Brake Challenge event. First 16 entered compete for $1,000 first place, $300 for runner up, $150 for semis. Entry fee $100, this represents a 100% pay out. Here's a chance to win big money in 4 rounds of racing! I have 13 signed up already from yesterday, call me at home after 5 p.m. at 717-259-7996 to enter, payment due race day! We will run the race just after round one of junior dragsters and you will have time to cool down if you are running Pro or Street or any other class. Here's who are already entered.
Wayne Skelly, Tammy Skelly, Lester Holtzapple, Brian Shaffer, Brittany Jones, Ray Born, Jeff Doster Sr., Brian Kuhn, Kate Roth, Lee Chronister, Erin Warner, Larry Mummert, Bill Smith.-- only three spots left!
Pro Sticks are coming this coming Sunday along with our Universal Technical Institute 6ft. trophy shoot out! See you at the QA!!
